The objective of the National Cadet Corps is to develop character, comradeship, and capacity for leadership
among youth in India. NCC at BIHER motivates the students with the best training and the ideals of selfless
service. The training inculcates teams’ spirit, a sense of Nationalism and it also helps in developing the
overall personality of an individual. The BIHER NCC was started in 1996 as an independent company. The first
and second-year students are enrolled for three years.
NCC offers rigorous training to its training students. BIHER conducts a pre-parade meeting every Friday from
4:30 to 5:30 PM and regular parades from 7:00 to 11:00 AM every Saturday on the BIST college grounds.
The NCC students have regard for nationalism and actively participate in the Independence Day and
Republic Day celebrations on the campus. The university takes pride in organizing several events for the
NCC cadets like Annual Training Camp, Republic Day Camp (RDC Camp- New Delhi), Inter Group Competitions
(IGC), National Integration Camp (NIC), and special camps for trekking, Firing Camps many more on
regular basis.
- Established in the year 1996 as an independent Cadre.
- Dr. V. Kannan was appointed as the first NCC co- Ordinator on 21st May 1996. Initially, 20 cadets
enrolled at NCC on 19th July 1996.
- The First Parade was held on Independence Day of 1996.
- As one of the first activities initiated in NCC, a tree plantation program was conducted on 28th
September 1996, inaugurated by Dr. S. Jagathrakshan, M.P.
- One of the first camps was organized on 17th December 1996 at the Tiruveni Academy.
- The university conducted its free medical camp on 5th August 1997 in the college premises of
Selaiyur.
- Mr. Radhakrishnan, Asst. Professor from the Department of Civil Engineering took charge as a curator
and followed by Dr. R. Udaykumar, Professor from the Department of Information Technology from 24th
January 2008.
- Captain. Dr. R. Udaykumar went on to become a First Associate NCC Officer of BIST, Direct
Commissioned on 1st June 2009.
- The University flag was designed and hoisted on 15th August 2010 by BIHER NCC.
- BIHER conducted one of its many Anti Plastic Rallies from Tambaram to Selaiyur on 10th September
2011.
- Other programs organized by the NCC include a seminar about how to join the Indian Army by captain
DG. Enoch and a campus visit by DDG NCC Commodore K. S. Aiyappa.
1 MED UNIT (TN)
- Established in 2017
- Ms. M. Susila Asst. Professor, Department of Electrical and Communication Engineering, took charge
as a curator from 2017.
- 13 Cadets were Enrolled in 2017.
- 5 SW and 12 SD cadets were enrolled in 2018.
- Lt. M. Susila became an Associate NCC officer of 1 (TN) MED UNIT directly commissioned in 2019.
- Nellore Lakshmi Shailesh Reddy was appointed as the first CSUO.
- CPL. Shaik Kasim was selected to attend the Republic Day parade held in New Delhi on 26th January
20120.
- SGT. Marupuri Lokesh Naidu was selected and attended the TSC camp held at Madurai.
- CDT. C. Chandrika attended EBSB camp at West Bengal.
